Malta - Miriana Conte - Serving

17 - 91 pts 9 - 53 pts in semi 2
Serving (official censored Eurovision version) - Miriana Conte
- On the official album (2CD/3LP)
Kant (revamp)
- replaces original in Spotify (and others?) See comments
Kant (original), now also titled Serving Kant*
- digital single 10-1
Serving - Karaoke
- On the official karaoke album (digital)
Serving - Instrumental
- digital 25-4
A new version was made, EBU doesn't allow the original title which apparently is offensive.
* There appear to be two releases on Spotify, one under TVM/Sony and one under the Manifester Music lisence. They appear to be the same version.

Apparently "Serving Kant" is a philosophy thing/joke

  1. The revamp is on Spotify, they replaced the first version, but she is still singing "KANT" instead of "Ahhh". Also the song is still called "KANT". Apparently the "Ahhh" version is only for Eurovision and the official video.

  2. What's the difference, I don't hear it.

    1. The difference is nicely hidden in the first chorus after she says "Serving Kant" for the second time. A kind of an electric guitar is added there. The next difference is in the whole second chorus, it starts with a nice transition and there are some other synths (maybe?) added. Try removing the vocals from both versions and to see the difference better. Also her vocals in the last chorus have a reverb effect, an echo can be heard.

    2. Another noticeable difference is in the middle-eight - the new version has additional male medieval-like vocals around the 2:12 mark when she sings "do re mi fa so".

In the version on the karaoke album (and presumably the official album) the middle eight is even more heavy on the medieval style and then the acapella bit is also longer than in the other known versions - feels like a stage version.

    3. Okay, after a few more listens I believe the following is the summary of the versions we have:

      1) the original Kant that's been available as a standalone single since January
      2) an ever-so-slightly revamped version with the differences described above by Fuego and myself which comes in two versions - as a family-friendly Serving (in the music video AND on the official album) and as a less family-friendly Serving Kant (the newly released single)
      3) a stage version based on the revamp but with a different middle-eight section - for now we only have the karaoke of it on the karaoke album, who knows if the vocal version of it will ever be released

  3. The version from the karaoke album is also different. It may be the stage version or just a revamp to the revamp. xD

  4. https://open.spotify.com/album/3bnzrOEyxpuUauqASHwGoR?si=juHlHQLIS4GW81p8AiUFrw

So this is the single with the official revamp, which is the official video version, here are 3 tracks:
    1. SERVING - Official Eurovision Version (this is the "ahhh" version from the video on the ESC YouTube channel)
    2. SERVING KANT (the same as the above, but instead of "ahhh" she sings "kant")
    3. SERVING - Instrumental version (the instrumental of the revamp with the chipmunk vocal effect in the chorus, no other vocals)

These 3 tracks are different from the karaoke, released with the ESC karaoke album!

    1. Kant is being served non stop!

So, all in all we now have five versions available:
      - original Kant (through the original single released in January)
      - revamped Kant (minor differences from the original version, in particular noticeable at 1:51 - extra instrumentation and 2:18 - extra reverb/backing vocals) served in three versions (clean, explicit and instrumental)
      - stage Kant (so far only available in a karaoke version through the karaoke album but clearly this will be the version used in Basel with an extra dance break of sorts)

    2. I still don't hear it, I guess I don't have the right original version

    3. Original Kant: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgiL4xcT-DY
      Revamped Kant: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=clbSFdACJMQ

The clearest difference is at 2:11 and 2:18 - in the original version it is only Miriana's vocals with no BVs, in the revamped version BVs are added, in particular when she sings "do-re-mi-fa-so".
